Hi all :)

I am upgrading some of our wintel servers to 2012.

When domain users log on I want to point them to the NETLOGON folder on the new DC to access the logon scripts.

Where do I find the reference that specifies the location of the NETLOGON folder so I can update it to the new server

thanks
Tracy

NETLOGON and SYSVOL files are accessed via a DFS namespace, so the client computers automatically connect to the closest available server, and will failover to other servers if the first one is unavailable.

If you go to \\yourdomainname.tld\NETLOGON, right click in a blank area and to go Properties, then go to the "DFS" tab, you can see it in action.

This means every domain controller contains the NETLOGON data, it replicates between them automatically, and the clients will automatically access the data from an appropriate DC without you needing to explicitly move files or tell them anything.

Just promote the server to a DC, and the workstations will figure the rest out.
