Event Log Error :  Security-SPP 12293 Publishing the Key Management Service (KMS) to DNS in the 'xx.xx.xx.com' domain failed.

Windows server 2008 r2-  This shows up in my application log as an error. The server is not a domain controller.  The server is a member of the domain which I do not control. When I installed the OS they gave me the operating system on a disk and said when I connect to the network it would validate the license.  I have not had any problems with the server or access to it.

Does this have any impact on the server and if not how can I make it go away?

Did the Operating System come with a MAK key?

You should be able to activate Windows with the MAK key - from the Control Panel System Applet (right-click computer, select Properties) select Change Product Key and follow the on-screen instructions.

It's already active.  I can remote in and all the users can view the web site.  That is why I don't understand the error message.  Everything works fine on the administrative and user side.
