"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This is a driver error, that the drivers are mismatched..
It sounds like you, likely have windows 7 or newer clients, which would need a different driver than what is supported by 2k3. On the machines you get this error, you will need to install the manufacturer drivers directly on the client machines. You might at that point be able to use the 2k3 box as the print server on "some" printers, but unlikely on all. (Color will give you a real issue)

I did tried putting the drivers on the client computer but still could not get it to work. I decided to delete the network printer and create another and so far so good, but I still have a few to re-create.
I do have both 32 and 64 bits drivers installed on the server for each printer.
