Which platform should I use to build this site
I want to build a website like getapp.com, capterra.com
Should I use wordpress or should I use ruby on rails?

Use whichever platform you are personally more competent with. Anything can build anything, the variable in the equation is you.

I am not a developer myself. I would have to learn as I go and do it myself or pay someone to do it.

I thought I could build it using wordpress since I found good themes and plugins that would allow me to do a lot of what I want to do.
Like reviews, ratings, comparison.
It would just need some customization. But I would need to know if wordpress can handle everything that is needed for building something like that.

I'm confused. So are you building it yourself or are you outsourcing the development?

I would like to keep the cost low and get it done. Wordpress seems like the best solution since it would allow me to do that. However, before I got started I asked around and a friend said wordpress is very limited and can't be used to build what I want. Is this true?
If I can't do it in wordpress, then I would have to hire someone else to do it or build it slowly myself. Even with wordpress, I would still need help but it is better than ROR or something else. But the point is, I would need to be able to build what I need using wordpress and the platform should not have limitations.
