With Per VLAN STP, I make the root at the care. But for rstp, do I need to do the same? Is the process of selecting the root the same as STP? Is there any rstp best practice for a campus network? Thanks

PVSTP and PVRSTP have the same basic requirements with respect to root location.

You want the root to be at a location so that the majority of the traffic gets the shortest path.  It just all depends on where the majority of the traffic is coming from and going to.

Typically, that would be near the core (or servers or default gateway).
