How to connect to postgres database?

I have to connect to a postgres database at work and use Excel or Access or Crystal Reports to query the data.  I've got the login credentials, ip address, and port info but I don't know how to set up the connection.  In Excel and Access, all I could find was ODBC connections. I'm on Office 2007. So how do I make this connection?

You need to install PostgreSQL ODBC drivers on your machine. I recommend you download the official ODBC drivers for your version from here. E.g. if your Postresql version is 9.3.3 then download and install psqlodbc_09_03_0300.zip (or psqlodbc_09_03_0300_x64.zip -f your OS is a 64 bit system). Once you installed the drivers they will appear in the ODBC administrator. You will then need to create a DSN using the ODBC Administrator utility. Read this article on how to create the DSN
