New-MailboxExportRequest

I'm having an issue with running a new-MailxboxExportRequest command against 2 mailboxes.  I'm receiving an error that I Couldn't connect to the source mailbox. --> MapiExceptionUnknownUser: Unable to make connection to the server.  I have full mailxbox access and have no problems with any other mailbox in the organization.

The only change was this use to be a linked mailbox that we converted to a user mailbox.  As part of this process we removed all smtp address and supplied a fake address to prevent mail flow.  I can run get-mailbox and get-mailboxstatisics against the mailbox all day long just can't connect via Outlook or run export processes.

I'm at a lost here as to what the issue is.

To convert a mailbox from linked to user you must have disconnected and reconnected the mailbox back. If so, run the below command against the database where user mailbox resides and try accessing through outlook

Clean-MailboxDatabase "databasename"

What happens when you try to connect through Outlook? If you can succeed there then your export would also be successful.

And hope you are providing the email address in the command New-MailboxExportRequest. Try that once.

Also, try to clear any old mailbox export requests and initiate a new one. Use the below command to clear any old requests

Get-MailboxImportRequest -Status Completed | Remove-MailboxImportRequest

Can't expand folder through outlook and OWA has a similar problem.  The issue appears to be MAPI related

I've tried with both alias and email address with the same result.

Please try to clear the export requests and paste the complete error information from the logs.

I need to keep the old requests I have on my system.  The export requests just fail for these 2 mailboxes.

Couldn't connect to the source mailbox.

To resolve this issue, assign the Mailbox Import Export RBAC management role to the account. To do this, run the following cmdlet:
New-ManagementRoleAssignment -Name "name" -SecurityGroup "security_group_name" -Role "Mailbox Import Export"

It is odd Outlook will not connect either. Have you compared permissions against another working mailbox?

The issue had to do with the legacyexchnagedn name needed to be changed.  Once the value was setup correctly this resolved the issue.  This name was changed as part of a migration awhile back.  Once this was changed back to the original value this resolved the issue.
