"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

FYI Monlnar,

The tutorial that you have linked is to adjust the sync depth (how many days worth of email will be downloaded and maintained on the device), not the sync rate.

Keep in mind that Gmail utilizes network pushes, so anytime a new email arrives on the server it will automatically attempt to push it to your device.  If your device is in sleep mode or a low power mode where mobile data is not being accessed then you will of course not see the new email until you wake the device and it has a chance to initiate a server sync.
