Ok I cleared all the event logs and reran the dot net set up and a log entry was generated as soon as the file decompressed and started to attempt to install

do I have the right version of dot net ?, it seems to reference AMD64 here , I have a Dell 1950 with intel proc

Ok I am thinking that I have to have the dot net 3.5.1 installed before adding the 4.5?

so add the feature like this ?User generated image
I also went to look what is in the registry as far as what dot net is installed and I see this v2.0.50727 so this is version 2.0

ok this is what the dot net 3.5 installed from features is installing now User generated image
