trying to install DOT NET 4.5 on a brand new 2008 r2 sp1 from MSDN from a lab

I am using the dot net set up  that is found on the MSDN website DOt net from MSDN
this is a brand new 2008 R2 SP1 from MSDN as well
Dot net fails to installI am getting this error when I attempt to install dot net fails to install 2

Ok I cleared all the event logs and reran the dot net set up and a log entry was generated as soon as the file decompressed and started to attempt to install

do I have the right version of dot net ?, it seems to reference AMD64 here , I have a Dell 1950 with intel proc

Ok I am thinking that I have to have the dot net 3.5.1 installed before adding the 4.5?

so add the feature like this ?adding the dot net 3.5 feature and related components

I also went to look what is in the registry as far as what dot net is installed and I see this v2.0.50727 so this is version 2.0

dot net version 2 is currently installed

ok this is what the dot net 3.5 installed from features is installing now list of what will be installed with dot net 3.5 in the features menu

right click the installer and run as administrator
