Move email folders and messages from XP Outlook Express to Win 8.1 Outlook 365

I researched this and found the instructions for doing it were bogus.  Many of the selections were simply not available in the dialogs cited.

I need to move emails (and preferably their folders) from Outlook Express on a Windows XP machine to Outlook (Office 365) on a Windows 8.1 machine.  So far only emailing messages as enclosure groups gets close and that's very tedious with lots of emails and lots of folders.

Are there some decent, straightforward, instructions for doing this?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You cannot do what you are trying to do. It will not work.

You must install Outlook on the XP machine. Outlook will pick up the Outlook Express emails and create a PST file. This will work and I have done it.

Outlook 2013 will not work on XP so you must use Outlook 2010 or earlier.
