I have installed Dirsync and it worked fine until last week. An issue occurred and the FIM service was changed to use the local account. The issue was not the the FIM service at all, but when we changed back to the login credentials used to install Dirsync, i could not put in the correct username and password as i did not know it. Anyone any ideas how to get service up and running again and if it needs a re install the best links to guide me through the process ?

You can either rerun the dirsync config wizard (which will recreate the service account for you), or get the password reset for that account and enter it manually. The account will be named AAD_534283423, or MSOL_2348242 or similar. Just make sure the account is added as member of the Local group "FIMSyncAdmins" and/or "ADSyncAdmins".
