I need a cheap way to share out our company manual pdf file.  Is there some sort of way I could setup a free website or hosted solution that will force the user when they go to the site to enter in a username and password to access the site.  I then want the  company manual pdf to be viewable but not be allowed to be deleted or edited.  We have a website but the people that host it are terrible at helping out with this.  I can't figure out how to add a username and password to a tab on the website.  Any cheap options to do this?  How about a NAS on our network that users outside the network could access with username and password?

I don't want to send everyone a link they need to keep.  Unless I'm misunderstanding you.  This is a file that 300 people will need to access.  I need a username and password to access the file.

I still think DropBox can do that, but not 100% sure and can't access my account from my work pc :-(

A NAS with the right software would indeed allow this, but seems overly complicated.  I'll try to look at DropBox from home tonight, but not certain I will be able to get it done this evening.  Feel free to click the request attention link if I don't get back with you soon enough.

Just wanted to advise that I was unable to get to the task last night, sorry.

I will try and do this with a NAS I have.
