VSS Errors Server 2012

Having an issue suddenly with a server backup.  I have rebooted, restarted services, registered dlls.  When I run vssadmin list writers it errors out and put 2 errors in the event log.

Try to delete the writer from HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENT CONTROL SET\SERVICES\VSS\PROVIDERS
and reboot.

already had tried that and it made no difference
