Hello and Good Afternoon Everyone,

I saw an interesting and compact sized electronic gadget which can electronically display feet and inches for carpentry work or to simply determine the square footage of a room.  From the best of my recollection, this intriguing electronic device is pocket size, uses what appears to be laser light, and an LED or LCD display which reveals feet and inches of what is being measured.  I apologize for my inability to give the actual name of this device.  However, I do hope I have provided enough information to go on in order to track it down.

Any followup link or links given in response to this question will be greatly appreciated.

            Thank you

            George

Hi George - there's an app for that:
Spike
Spike is the world’s first laser accurate Smartphone measurement solution. The Spike device, Spike mobile app, and your Smartphone work together to change the way measurements are taken and shared. Spike allows you to measure an object simply with a snap from your Smartphone or Tablet. From that photo you can capture real time measurements including height, width, area, length, and target location. Measurements and location are saved with the picture, and can be easily shared via email as a PDF or Spike File (XML).
I also got good results from Google with "laser tape measure".

Hello and Good Morning Everyone,

First of all, I want to say thank you for all of the links submitted in reply to my question.  After reviewing all of them, it quickly becomes obvious to me that laser tape measuring tools come in a variety of different styles, functions, and prices.  I am assuming the much higher dollar ones are mostly geared toward commercial use like in industrial construction of a home, public building to be used as an establishment, and so forth.  The lower dollar ones are probably more suitable for simple home use or home projects.  At any rate, I believe I know which one will suit my needs.

Thanks again everyone for your shared input.  I hope everyone has a joyful and safe upcoming Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
