If the Windows install was OEM (very likely), the COA key on the laptop will not likely work. You need the recovery DVD's from the computer manufacturer.

Thanks. So the Windows install is OEM (single license tied to the computer) and you need the Dell Recovery DVD's to rebuild the hard drive.

Simple, centralized multimedia control

Watch and learn to see how ATEN provided an easy and effective way for three jointly-owned pubs to control the 60 televisions located across their three venues utilizing the ATEN Control System, Modular Matrix Switch and HDBaseT extenders.

Any other Windows 7 DVD is likely to require a Windows key with that DVD (and so cost you additional money.

I really suggest contacting Dell to get recovery DVD's

If you have Media (DVD) from Dell to install on a hard drive in a Dell Computer, it should work

Go into the BIOS and change AHCI to Compatibility Mode. Restart with the DVD in the drive and see if it now installs.

If it does, you can go back (once installed) and revert to AHCI.

If you were asked by the installer to enter the key from the sticker then there is a problem with the media you are using or the Dell systemboard has been replaced.
Can you download the MGA tool, run it and post the output?
