O365 and Outlook 2010 communication protocol.

Hi,

We use O365 and Outlook 2010.

Can someone let me know what communication protocol between them?  I know SMTP is not being used.

When we use Outlook 2010 and on-prem Exchange 2010, IMAP was used.
