Windows DFS

Hello,

I would like to know what options there are DFS alerts and monitoring.

We recently had some DFS issues that we discovered, but had no idea that they were going on. We would like to receive an alert whenever there is an error with our DFS. If there is a monitor tool out there that is widely used, that would be a plus as well. (Win2K8R2 environment)

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

One built-in way, if there is an existing event you want to watch, is to run a task when the event is triggered in the future. You can start a program, send an e-mail, or show a message on the desktop (of the computer running the task)...

1. Open Event Viewer
2. Right-click the event. Pick Attach task to this event...
3. Name the task accordingly
4. Choose an action to perform
5. Pick "Open the Properties" if you want to edit the task.

Hi victory2201...

FWIW, you can also create your own events via Eventcreate. See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490899.aspx
