For the on-premise Office programs you can create addins using VBA, COM and other systems but is this possible for the online versions of Excel and Word ?

The 'Excel Online' and 'Word Online' have a much reduced functionality set and of course I am not expecting any VBA support but is there any SDK (Software Development Kit) or interface for the online suite ? This may be using Java, JavaScript or some such language.

Any help or links would be greatly appreciated.
