Error 404 redirect page

Hi E's,
In my project I create a custom 404 error page. So, every time that error occurs, redirect to 404.php.
404.php, is a custom page, that inform the customer with "page not found".
Heve any problem in create a 404 error page, for example for SEO?
Should I know anything else?

The best regards,
JC

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

A custom 404 page won't have a negative impact on SEO.

However, having poor user experiences can have a negative impact on SEO.

If you have pages that have moved to new addresses, you should use a 301 so the link juice is carried over to the new location and users aren't hitting an error page. This will have a positive effect on SEO.
