Office 365 email auto reply

I am trying to set up an email account as follows.
I have added an alias email address to one account. When email comes through this second email address I would like to set up an auto reply letting the sender know we have received the email and will get back to them. Is there a way to set up an auto reply for the alias and not the main email address?
Or, will I have to set up a separate email account with the auto reply, then forward that to the main account?
