can't open attachment in lync 2013

I'm using the free basic lync client on my computer. I found that I can't open any attachment to lync client. When a user tries to share the document, it just looks like a file without filename and file extension. Unsure what its doing thatScreen-Shot-2014-12-08-at-12.33.52-PM.pn
Please let me know which logs to check and what to do.

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
