setting up virtual machine

I use VMWARE and I am at the vcenter (vsphere client) window.  I have never added another virtual machine and just want to do it right.  I want to put our sophos antivirus enterprise program on as a virtual machine.  Right now it is on a win xp pro machine sending out to the clients.  Can someone tell me the steps in adding the machine and giving it RAM and hard drive space?  If there is anything else that is vital or this won't work, that info would be great.  Doing this I assume will not affect any of my other VM's is that right?

Actually you have 3 Options:

1.) you can convert your existing physical machine to a vm with the free tool of vmware vmconverter
2.) you can download fom sophos a ready virtualmachine where you can install your license
3.) you can install a new vm with a new OS: https://www.vmware.com/support/ws55/doc/ws_newguest_setup_simple_steps.html
