exchange 2010 how often do ost files update

I need to know how often .ost file up date in 2010  and can it be changed

I think ost uses subscribe feature in exchange, so after updating when it starts or becoming online after offline state, Exchange server send notification events related to the mailbox

other updates timing is done using send - receive settings for the account or account group
