Deploy citrix Receiver

In Xendesktop 7 server there is an option to Deploy Citrix Receiver(as shown in the snapshot below), but when I click on it,it opens up a window that shows options for deployment, I select "Install Locally", however I am not sure what this does.
When I logon to windows 7 and open up  browser and connect to servername/citrix/storeweb it will prompt me to install citrix receiver or login...

I am not sure what that option "Deploy Citrix Receiver" in Xendesktop does ?
does that mean if I did not click on it then selected "Install locally", end users will not be prompted to download and install citrix receiver (I doubt)..if that's the case how can I Cancel it ? I mean so that when users connect to storefront will not be prompted to install the receiver?

Any idea?

Thanksrcd

The deployment you refer to, is to deploy the receiver to the computers, connecting to your xenserver.
(as you know, without receiver, no citrix session)

You can force users to collect a receiver from the Citrix servers, or, by using the deployment option, to get the receiver from your own store.

You can deploy Receiver from Receiver for Web to ensure that users have it installed before they try to connect to an application from a browser.
Receiver for Web sites enable users to access StoreFront stores through a Web page.
If the Receiver for Web site detects that a user does not have a compatible version of Receiver, the user is prompted to download and install Receiver.

Email-based account discovery does not apply when Receiver is deployed from Receiver for Web. If email-based account discovery is configured and a first-time user installs Receiver from Citrix.com, Receiver prompts the user for an email or server address. Entering an email address results in the error message "Your email cannot be used to add an account." Use the following configuration to prompt for the server address only.
1.Download CitrixReceiver.exe to your local computer.
2.Rename CitrixReceiver.exe to CitrixReceiverWeb.exe.
Important: The name CitrixReceiverWeb.exe is case sensitive.

3.Deploy the renamed executable using your regular deployment method. If you use StoreFront, refer to "Configure Receiver for Web using the configuration files" in the StoreFront documentation.

If I understand Xendesktop 7 server, by default has citrixreceiver.exe file in the following path:
C:\Program Files\Citrix\Receiver StoreFront\Receiver Clients\Windows

So if Administrator clicks on "Deploy Citrix Receiver", then they will get the following window:
dp

To my understanading even if the Administrator does not use the "Deploy Citrix Receiver"

users will still be able to download the receiver through the web browser when they type:

servername/citrix/storeweb

The first comment is correct to my understanding, yes.
Unless ofcource, you remove the client from the store...

The second comment I am not really sure if I understand correct. So, no comment on that one, sorry.

Let me make my question simple.
on the first snapshot I highlighted in Yellow "Deploy Citrix Receiver"

How to prove that Clicking on "Deploy Citrix Receiver"  will really deploy Citrix receiver ?

I cannot prove that it does what it says.

Take a lap or desktop and connect to your Citrix environment as a user would.
Make sure there's no receiver installed.

An offer will apear to download / install the receiver.

That was the first thing I did, before I posted this question.
I can download citrix receiver from a workstation, as regular domain user with or without using : the option on the first snapshot I highlighted in Yellow "Deploy Citrix Receiver"

i am sorry for not being clear on this one.

The difference should be the source.
With deploy, the source will be your very own server.
Without, I do believe it wil go to Citrix.

I do not believe you can kill the check for a receiver do. (at least not from the server side)

without configuring "Deploy Citrix Receiver" from Xendesktop server. Domain Users will still be able to download  citrix receiver from Xendesktop, by typing the URL of he xendesktop server:
servername.domainname/citrix/storweb

This why I do not understand the utility of using :the option on the first snapshot I highlighted in Yellow "Deploy Citrix Receiver"

Okay, I get the picture. I was kind of misled.
The only way to prevent this ( if that is what you want) is to change the rights on the specific dir. or even take out the entire .exe file, so nothing is there to be downloaded.

Then again, it's the whole purpose of the store, to be able to download.
I can immagian, bandwith can be an issue, so when afraid, users will be able to use the full adress, block it.

I do believe xencenter uses a specific port for the store, so you can set firewallrules as well, but this I am not sure of.
This info should be available in the guide from Citrix do.

No you have not gotten the picture yet.
If you look at the option on the first snapshot I highlighted in Yellow "Deploy Citrix Receiver".
Either It has a role that I am not aware of or it is useless.
Because if a domain users can download and install Citrix Receiver by connecting to URL: servername.domainname/citrix/storeweb, then the afore mentioned option does not have any sense.
I tried it , I clicked Deploy Citrix Receiver then a window opened up and I selected Install locally ,then I logged, as a domain user, into windows 7, then there was nothing installed on Windows7, then I opened up IE and typed the stated  URL to download citrix receiver.

So,   "Deploy Citrix Receiver" is either useless or it is used in different scenario that we do not know? at least that I do not know..

You've got a point. Even do I disagree on the
not have any sense
Its defenate not bulletproof. Then again, we can make this a discussion of its own.
Ore you can find another option to shut this route, If thats what you desire.
Which I have mentioned one message ago.
