I installed a new Windows Server 2012 with Exchange 2013 and as a file share for public documents.
When I am searching from a windows 7 Pro station on the Network share I get a list of files docs and pdf's the icon with file type isn't listed and I can't open any files when I click on them.

Have you checked your file associations?

Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Associations

How about the share permissions?

Can you write a new file to the share?  Does it show the icon?
