I'm trying to get branchcache working, but not working right - here is my setup:

1. Existing DC file server, added branchcache, set GP to cache all shares
2. new server at site, added branchcache, setup as hosted
3. set DC to turn on branchcache on desktops (8.1)

the netsh command seems to show everything correctly for both the hosted cache, and the client.  But Perfmon is not showing anything as being cached.

I'm only trying to cache files - not anything else, and it's all 2012R2 / win 8.1.  most of the info I can find talks about 2008 Win 7.

Have you been accessing files at the remote site?  Branchcache caches frequently accessed files.  If no files are being regularly accessed, then nothing will be cached.

Branchcache overview:  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831696.aspx

So unless you have file access traffic against the shares that are cached, there won't be anything in the cache.

You could preload content on the BranchCache server.

After working with MS support for a week. They finally clued in that Branchcache is only on the Enterprise versions of windows.  Some docs talk about 8.1 support, but it's only 8.1 Ent.

The Software will install and looks like it will work with no warning, but it will not cache.
