issues with quickbooks

I have 2 computers that will open a qb file in the network but they are unable to open as multiuser with the server hosting. I keep getting this error.

The company is located in an other computer and quickbooks cannot contact that computer.
Error code:H202

this are 2 brand new computers.
I already remove the firewall and antivirus.
all other computer connect with out any issues.

Is the network Ethernet cable or wireless?
We have found obscure failures with QuickBooks using wireless.  In the end, one finds from Intuit that it is NOT advisable to use wireless connections with QuickBooks.
With wireless speeds improving, this may no longer ALWAYS be the case but it's worth knowing.

Presumably you've already done all the normal things like proving you can ping the server, etc.

ASKER

IT is a gigabit wire network. I can access the file in single mode. but if I try to switch to multi-user it only works if I am the host. it does not recognize the server as the host.

I ran the file doctor. is it the same?
the server folder is share read/write to everyone. firewall is off. I have 5 computer and only 2 have that same issue. the server is a Windows 8 lenovo pc. and the work stations are windows 8 dell inspiron. they are new PCs. I got them with Windows 7 and I thought that upgrading to windows 8 will solve the problem but it did not. I think the problem may be in the server. but i just ran out of ideas.
I don't recall that the file doctor would be the same as the network checker.
It will adjust the firewall settings on a new (or old) computer - one of the tools that I find quite useful!
Can you see the QB file using the Windows 8 "Network" section of "Computer"?

Can you open the folder with the QB file using Start: \\[ipaddress\folder\folder....]?
thanks
