It took 350 for the Galileo apology to be issued. Some things take time. (And I'm still not sure what the actual status of Galileo is.)

Changes in Vatican structures are made and unmade as various Popes come and go. Permanent changes, OTOH, seemingly require many years before they become entrenched traditions that gain their own momentum.

IMO, we'll see. (...if we live long enough.)

Personally, I think he has already shown himself to be suited for 'decent' leadership and presence on national stage.  I'd like to do more here, but consider it likely he'll deliver another talking point we can use to revisit overview. He's more like John, than one in between who had trouble leaving Nazi training in confessional.
