I have three Windows 7 (x64) computers. One of them acts as a file server.  The folder that is shared has about 30,000 files in it.

Two computers can search this mapped folder, but one (not the server) cannot.  If I view the files, pick a file name (or part of it) that I am looking at and search for it, no results are returned.  It seems that once one of the other two computers perform a search, then the problem is resolved.

-I have tried clearing the index on the serving desktop.
-I have tried everything in the following links:
http://www.jasoncrider.com/blog/archives/2011/03/07/make-windows-7-find-search-results-for-a-mapped-drive/
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/afb904c1-1c61-4aae-b6b1-5cf525b9f8de/how-do-i-get-windows-7-to-index-a-network-mapped-drive?forum=w7itpronetworking
-I have also tried checking the box disabling searching in sub-folders (Folder Options, Search tab)

It is worth noting that checking the box fixed the problem (except the user needs sub-folder searching) and when I unchecked it, the fix stayed until reboot.

Also, the first link fixed the issue, until reboot.

Try using Everything on that PC to search.
http://www.voidtools.com/

This will not solve your problem but should provide a means to search on that PC straightaway.
