Server 2012 RDS Install

I have setup a Server 2012 VM and installed RDS with "Session-based desktop deployment".    I have been able to publish apps but what I need is a desktop mode like the old Terminal Services so that each user has their own desktop environment.  I have not been able to figure out how to set that up.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you used the session based wizard then you already have it. Just fire up RDC on a client and point it to your RDSH server, just like previous versions.

Thanks.  I guess then I have a separate problem.  Whenever I try to do an RDC session to the server I get the following error "the computer can't connect to the remote computer".

Firewalls, ports, normal stuff. You said you could publish apps. Did you test to see if published apps actually work? Remoteapps still use RDC and the same basic ports and RDP protocol.

OK, now I feel like an idiot.  The server was set to DHCP, never changed it after installing everything.  Once I put a static IP address in there I was able to connect through RDC.
