HP DL360P G8 S Array P420i/P222/External tape drive

I configured this server through the HP wizard plus had an HP rep review.  I have no idea what to do at this point. I ordered with 6 drives.  I really wanted 8 so ordered 2 more drives.  Total of 8 drives - 2-300gb 6-146gb.  When I go thru the Intelligent Provisioning to the Smart Config, I see 4 drives show up on the P420i and 4 drives show up on the P222.  I opened the case and they have cabled from the drive back plane (drives 5-8) to the motherboard connection.  From the left side drives 1-4 are configured not to the other P420i on the motherboard connection but it goes to the back of the server to what I believe to be the P222 which has the connection for the external tape.  I cant configure more than 4 drives to either controller.  Apologize for my hardware ignorance but it seems the drives 1-4 connector should go to the other motherboard connections.  The cable doesn't have a bent config so I cant try bc the case cover must be on to boot.
Why has HP configured drives 1-4 to the other controller?  I thought I only needed the P222 for the external tape.  Im not sure the expansion tray is actually the P222 but I assume it is.  Even so, the server shipped with 6 drives, I cant configure just 4 drives, what sense would that make?

Server Hardware
Server Hardware

Servers are computing devices that are similar to desktop computers in that they have the same basic components, but are significantly different in size, configuration and purpose. Servers are usually accessed over a network, and many run unattended, without a computer monitor, input device, audio hardware or USB interfaces. Many servers do not have a graphical user interface (GUI), and are configured and managed remotely. Servers typically include hardware redundancy such as dual power supplies, RAID disk systems, and ECC memory, along with extensive pre-boot memory testing and verification. Critical components might be hot swappable, and to guard against overheating, servers might have more powerful fans or use water cooling.
