Virtualbox Network Monitoring and alerts

Can someone tell me a free solution that has an alert ability to send email or app when a Host and/guest VBOX is down.

I have identified these software:

Nagios
Zabbix
PandoraFMS - really like
Observium

But if there is a simpler one to configure I am interested in knowing.

I have three host with windows 7 that run VBOX:
and each one has 10 VM guests.

Main thing is I need to know when they fail, are down, and if they ever get errors.
If a log is out there in the solution, that would be great.

I know some of the software above has apps, but a web based portal would be in conjunction.

Not sure if the software can be on a web host while the VBOX host are on a personal network.

Thank you experts...

To be honest with your solution, I would maybe start looking at a Type 1 BareMetal Hypervisor such as VMware vSphere (ESXi) - FREE!

Not only will performance be better, you can then tie in and use, Veeam ONE - FREE, to monitor your Host and VM enviroment.

Part 1: HOW TO: Install and Configure VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.1 (ESXi 5.1)

Part 2: HOW TO: Connect to the VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.1 (ESXi 5.1) using the vSphere Client

With your current solution, you will need to detect downtime via IP Address or SNMP.

Andrew,

I really need the solution for virtualbox only. Switching over to another VM platform is not a option.

Any Monitoring tool which can monitor an IP Address, is your only option, or SNMP!

Nagios as open source is the best option.

Andrew,

Thanks for the quick response but I am looking for something that is fairly easy to setup. Any suggestions?
