Why Ubuntu system crashes at suspend mode?

I have been running Ubuntu 14.10 for a while with no problems. Since a few days ago, if I suspend my desktop and wake it everything is fine. However, at a second attempt to suspend it the whole system crashes and get a black screen. Once I reboot everything is back to normal as long as I don't suspend the machine a second time after reboot. Any solutions to this problem?

It depends on hardware and on the BIOS, and on drivers for video card etc.
Can you hibernate and wake up without any problems?

I can with Windows 8.1 (I have a dual boot for Windows 8.1/Ubuntu 14.10). With Windows 8.1 it works perfectly fine (sleep, hibernation, wake-up

Are you booting Ubuntu from powered off machine?
Can it hibernate?
Can you post at least output of dmesg from boot to wakeup after first suspend?

As you might guess I ask you about ubuntu, and I really dont care about your windows.

Why dont you install it in some desktop virtualisation product like VirtualBox or Vmware player?

Yes, I am booting Ubuntu from powered off machine since when it crashes it gets the black screen and the machine freezes totally. In Ubuntu it can't hibernate.
dmesg after first wakeup:

I don't want to use any virtualisation program since it has a potential of causing more troubles for me (installing, running, etc.) I want to use an OS for my daily activities (email, video, etc.). I am no a computer geek to play around and experiment with different technologies. I t just an end user. I found Ubuntu so far faster and more efficient than Windows 8.1, but if I have to start struggling, like now, to get something done, I then rather switch back to Windows 8.1.

DOES HIBERNATE WORK? YES/NO ?

Does system enter and exit standby with tv card and all external disks disconnected?
Can you update BIOS of system in attempt to get rid of mentions of "Firmware BUG" around powering off CPUs?

Hibernate does not work with Ubuntu. However, I disconnected the TV tuner USB and external HD USB and now suspend works!!! Is there a way where I can connect my HD USB on a permanently basis and still be able to use suspend mode? The BIOS idea I find worrisome since I am afraid that I will blow the CMOS or motherboard.

Your USB heap draws too much power.

It sounds strange, but if I logout and suspend, the whole thing works (with external HD USB connected). Login in and logout in Ubuntu is quite fast, so I can live with this solution. Thank you for your help.

Probably USB HDD enters low power mode when not open by session.
