With my local infant and junior school I attended a presentation at a nearby school showing how they use iPads with Reception and Year 1 & 2 children. The use of tablets was impressive and the use of gestures was clearly more accessible and intuitive for the youngest. There was also an impressive range of apps for phonics etc.
When I asked them what decided them on Apple as opposed to another platform it became clear they hadn't explored any other options. Given that Apple hardware is extremely expensive I have been asked to explore what other tablet technology and apps there are around to compare.
So the question is can I have any recommendations with regard tablet/app combinations that might prove valuable in the classroom for reception, year & 2 children?
