quickbooks pos c/n locate a valid installation after disk clone

I cloned a hard drive. Qb pos  gives me an error about a valid installtion. When cloning other qb there is a license file you can copy from the old hard drive or the cd. I can't remember the file name.

There are DSN and ND files in the QuickBooks data folder (So QBW, TLG, DSN and ND files).

Normally QB will remake the DSN and ND files.

It would be a good idea to uninstall QB and then reinstall it. It may not have survived the clone.

There is a license file that can be copied to a existing install to correct the error. I have done this for other quickbooks transfers.

All the file extensions that go with QuickBooks data files are listed above (QBW, TLG, DSN, ND). The latter two deal with where the file is and who is using it. The first two are Data and Transaction Log). Normally QB remakes the DSN and ND file. You can try copying the ND file but that may not work.

So your clone may not have picked up the DSN and/or ND files. But opening the QB data file should recreate them.

I think the error is about the QB installation, not about licensing. That is why I suggest you reinstall QuickBooks.
