WSUS on Windows Server 2012 R2 error

It looks like the WSUS is function ok, but at least once in every 24 hours period receiving a message: windows update failed to check for updates with error 0x80040154.
Any fix?

Maybe we need some more details here: is the client on the 2012 R2 failing or the WSUS server installed on this server?

If its the client, please attach the corresponding WindowsUpdate.log (C:\WINDOWS).

If its the server, please attach C:\Program Files\Update Services\LogFiles\SoftwareDistribution.log.

Still don't get the picture: is the WSUS client showing this error running on the WSUS server itself or on a different machine?
Other machines connecting to the same WSUS server also misbehave? How are the machines connected?

Client and WSUS server - same physical 2012 R2 machine.
All other machines are OK, connected over the network using GPO.

Just FYI: In the past 24 hours the server logged in this error (event id 25) 22 times.

1) Please post the WSUS client configuration of your server. Its located under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate

2) Its configured via GPO?

Is the server multi-homed (multiple NICs)? Or has multiple IP addresses?

The server is connected over the network using GPO, it has only 1 IP address.

The problem was fixed:
1. stopped the Windows Update Client
2. deleted the SoftwareDistribution folder
3. restarted the service.
 After it rebuilt the folder the errors seem to have gone away
