any ideas, thanks in advance

Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain XXXXXXXX.XXX by XXXXXX.XXX. [].
The error that the other server returned was:
550-Please turn on SMTP Authentication in your mail client. []:33828 is not permitted to relay
550 through this server without authentication.

Did you only recently configure the MX records for the new domain to point to Office 365? It's possible that the outgoing server that Gmail is using to send your test email hasn't seen the updated DNS changes yet for your Office 365 domain.

Try sending test emails to your Office 365 domain from other free email providers such as Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. and see if they also bounce.
