Alexa Web Information Service (AWIS) in VB.NET app

Basically i'm desperately trying to find a working call to the AWIS service on Amazon, all source is either Perl/Ruby/PHP

I simply want to pass a URL and get the XML return from Alexa. Anyone have this working? all documentation is back in 2005 !!!
