Can anyone tell me if I can host 2 sites out of the same Joomla installation?

If yes can you point me in the right direction, articles / blog posts and such.

Let me know.  Thanks.

Why?
2 separate site would need their own set of files they could share the same database and use different tables.
could you explain what the requirements are and how it would operate?

there's couple of link that might help:

Thanks for helping.  I will look at those links.

Basically I have a very small company that has 2 divisions each with their own web site.  I would like to consolidate.  The older site not Joomla is straight HTML right now, I want to get it into CMS but I don't really have the knowledge base to do it.  So I'm open to whatever the best practice method might be.

Thanks again.

the best CMS for multi sites is Wordpress, but it depends on what functionality you a want on the sites.  Joomla is huge, wordpress a lot easier
take look:

Resources provided were just what I was looking for.  I did find there were some better ways to do this with my hosting company and a separate installation of Joomla.  Nevertheless this was enlightening and got me on the right track.
