WS_FTP will not start

WS_FTP version 12 installed in Parallels 12/Windows 8.1 will no longer start when Parallels icon or Start/WIN 8.1 icon are clicked. Restart/Reboot MAC Yosemite does not help.

I would rather not reinstall WS_FTP as Connections file will not be installed.

WS_FTP V12.4 works fine in Windows 8.1 (I have used WS_FTP Pro for over a decade).

Your connection sites are here in  WS_FTP.ini : C:\ProgramData\Ipswitch\WS_FTP\Sites

Save the file, uninstall, restart Windows 8.1 and try again. Make sure you are V12.4

Navigated to C:\ProgramData\Ipswitch\WS_FTP\Sites and found only a readme.txt file.  Said file said I needed a .ini file - seems reasonable to me!

As I have two recent system backups (Time Machine / Acronis)  - Ok to restore the C:\ProgramData\Ipswitch\WS_FTP\Sites files? Or will the WIN 8.1 registry not know about this.

Maybe I could restore the Windows Virtual Machine?

Help would be appreciated as readme.txt does not address the reinstall issue.

Try restoring the machine. Also look elsewhere for WS_FTP.ini because a current version of this is your connection file.

As the backups were recent, C:\ProgramData\Ipswitch\WS_FTP\Sites folder did not contain ws_ftp.ini. Evidently lost earlier.

However, I do have a copy of ws_ftp.ini and other files in my 'Program Storage' folder on another drive [dated 1/26/2010] . It is version 12.2 - as documented in the license.txt file. I do not have a version 12.4.

I know the connections passwords are densely coded and cannot be recovered,

So, can I reinstall WS_FTP 12.2 from 'Program Storage' folder (how in Parallels?) and copy the .ini file.

Hoping this will work...

WS_FTP 12.2 is fairly old, so you do want to upgrade to V12.4.

Thanks for your help - until I get this sorted out, I have access to 'sneakernet' WIIN 7 / WS_FTP 12.2 PC with internet access.
