Hi,

I've just started using One Drive and would like to know if users with shared access to my files can update them directly. Or, do they have to download them first, edit them and then upload ?

Thanks

Depends on how you shared it with them.  You can assign permissions to that specific user to if you only want the to read or edit.  If they have edit rights they can change things directly on the site
