I am a new Veeam .

In my Veeam job setup, should I be enabling "Enable application aware processing for File Server" for a basic file server?

Does "Enable application aware processing for File Server" basically turn on and off VSS technology?
thanks.

Yes, enable  application aware processing for File Server for all your Backups, to ensure you obtain a application consistent backup.

otherwise your backups will only be crash-consistent.

Veeam recommends that you enable that option for all Windows VMs.
