I have a 20 pages indesign file and and I want to make it into an internactive piece where you press play and it goes through (slower on pages you read and faster on photos) and has music behind. Then I need to be able to send it to people or send them a link. I have all the indesign. I just can’t put music or vary speeds :-(
Anyone has any ideas....how to do it?

Why not let the reader control the speed. People read at different speeds and would definitely want to control how much time they spend on watching individual pictures.

In InDesign CC 2014 you have the ability to make fixed layout epubs very easily and you can add buttons everywhere and all kinds of interactivity. This plays on any device, tablets and phones and desktops and you have full control of how you distribute your files.

You could use the interactivity methods of InDesign to animate the whole reading by linking all your actions inside the Timer panel.

One action you can use it Go to Next Page for pagination but it has to be controlled by a readers click, so I think you should rather set up the whole publication on a one page where objects are hidden until triggered. But my opinion is that you really should leave the reading speed to the reader.

Another think you could also do is to turn everything into a movie file if you want to stick to your original reading experience idea.

First you got to have InDesign CC 2014. It is too much for me to describe here in words step by step but I have a few links to videos that will help you to achieve what you are after.

InDesign has had the ability to make interactions for a while but up to CC 2014 you were limited to exporting such to pdf , web and flash. Besides if you wanted to make ePubs you needed to rely on Apple to distribute.

With CC 2014 you can export interactive ePubs to iPads and more based on the fact that the export for animation in ID has now added html 5 / CSS3 support.

The bare basics are that if you want someone to activate an action you have to make a button. Buttons can be made of any object in ID, it can be a red dot, a picture or a text frame.
Use: Buttons and Forms panel

In the Button and Forms panel you add an action to the button to tell it what it should do, play sound, go to next page, hide a picture and what ever.

Sliding pictures are gathered in to what is called Multi State Objects, using Object State Panel and to activate what picture is shown you use the Buttons and Forms panel to set the action. On a tablet a swipe can also be used.
