what's the difference between RC and Version?

I got this error in ember:
Ember application not detected!
Here are some common reasons this happens:
This is not an Ember application.
You are using an old version of Ember (< rc5).
You are using the file:// protocol (instead of http://), in which case:
Visit the URL: chrome://extensions.
Find the Ember Inspector.

So I'm wondering where in the line of versions I should find
RC 5?   I mean
That's not Ember Version 5 is it?   Does that mean I don't know what version of ember I need to have

I don't know about Ember but with many software packages, RC stands for Release Candidate which is like a beta copy before a final release. A version of a product might have one or RC releases before the final version.
