Intrasite icons that launch citrix

In our environment we have an intrasite(website). some icons when clicked upon  will launch the associated application but will first show CItrix progress bar, then opens up the Application.

I just want to understand how they associate the Icons from the Web page with Citrix.
The classic way is to publish an Application to specific users or all users , but am not sure how they do it through web page as I described it.

any idea?

Thanks

It is exactly the same thing.  The Citrix icons are launching published applications.   There are multiple ways to do this, but the most common is to generate an ICA file for the application in question, save it, and then publish it through the web page.  (typically as text/x-ica).  The client with an ICA cilent will recognize the ICA file and attempt to connect it.

There are a number of ways.  You can associate .ica files with notepad from a client, depending on your management console, you can right click on the published app and select the option to create an ICA file (the option is in different places on different consoles).  The Citrix Quick Launch tool can create one.  You can modify your WI/SF to not delete the ICA files automatically and then copy it out of the client's temp directory (and strip out credentials).  There are a number of freeware ICA file generators, etc.  :-)

We use Citrix Appcenter console, so how do you create an ica file from it?
The applications run from a webpage(internal website), user clicks on the icon on the webpage and citrix will connect user to the application. So how do you associate the ica file previously created with the icon on the webpage ?

You aren't dependent on the web page handling the file association, although you can.  A lot depends on your page type, but you would embed the file as x-application/ica, and you depend on the client understanding the file and knowing what to do with it.

There are a number of tools out there to create ICA files.  The quick launch tool is the easiest: http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX122536.

The only time you would actually be dependent on the web page would be if you were doing an embedded object in the web page, where the published application would run inside the web page.
