Hello Guru's,

I am trying to make a similar sheet like attached for different format . My question is how does the button type system works (CAT1 , CAT2 etc ). I know the concept of vlookup and its format , lets say for eg: VLOOKUP(lookup_value, table_array, col_index_num, [range_lookup])

Appreciate your kind help and support to provide me advise.

Regards,

In a sheet, you can add radio button controls. You assign it to one cell (in this case B5). It's nothing more than setting cell B5 to be 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 (if you added more radio buttons yourself, it would go to 6 or 7 etc).
So first you have to fix the excel file to work properly that if you manually input a number in B5, it would show the correct values in the table below. After that, add the radio buttons (and give them a proper name), then link it to B5. Have your table react to numbers starting from 1 (as the cell will only be 1, and up, depending on how many buttons you add)

Thanks , could you please clarify this point also

As per cell B8 , i saw this function statement , VLOOKUP(A8,DB!B3:U19,$B$5*4-2,FALSE)
what is $B$5*4 -2 , i understood on the cell B5, there were five options , then why it is shown B5* 4 -2 ?

number * 4 - 2 means
1 results in 2
2 results in 6
3 results in 10
4 results in 14
5 results in 18

As you can see, in the sheet DB, he put all the columns in the same way, NEXT to each other. So depending on what category you click, the results will jump 4 columns to the right. The original author though this would be the best way for him/her to keep things organised. It also allows the next category to be added quickly (and theoretically also extra lines).
So it all depends how you "design" it from the start.

It's $B$5*4 - 2, in this particular case, because he limited the table in DB, starting from column B. That means the second column, counting from there will be the result (if CAT1 is selected). It will take the 6th column if CAT2 is selected and so on.
