sbs2011 dl380p GEN 8

Using  HP Intelligent Provisioning
Gets to step 2
then stops with Windows  Installation can not continue because a required driver could not be installed

Can install from CD natively but wanted to use  Intelligent Provisioning to load all the drivers etc.

Any Idea why this wont work?
Tried with raid then no raid just, single drive.
About to try with just a sata drive

First thing you'll need to try is to update Intelligent Provisioning to the latest version for your server. Here's the download link for Intelligent Provisioning v1.61: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=5194969&swItemId=MTX_8c62649bf1b746779063c19c44&swEnvOid=4108

If you need help upgrading IP see this article: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03634607

Let me know how you go once you've updated IP.

We have updated the IP to that version, but we still have the same issue.

Are you installing SBS 2011 using a CD/DVD or are you using an ISO file?

If you're installing it using an optical disk, try using an external DVD drive if you have access to one. There have been reports of 2008 R2 (which SBS 2011 is based on) not installing properly when using the built-in CD/DVD drive together with IP.

When the unit fails, it drops to the windows install background with a command prompt  drive x:
We are running the install again to get screen shots.

We are using an external usb cd drive.

We are going to iso the sbs2011 and copy it on to a usb stick to see if that helps

Very frustrating.

Alright that would've been my next suggestion, to use an ISO instead.

Also see if you can get a copy of the installation from another source. I'm starting to see more and more Windows installations fail due to corrupted media.

We finally obtained a HP branded SBS2011 ISO
Ran it up using  the ISO on a USB stick.
Intelligent Provisioning  found the ISO  on the stick as a source, ran the install and failed at the same place.

We are having to proceed with a manual installation using the ISO and not using Intelligent Provisioning.

That's unfortunate, although not exactly unheard of. I have had to resort to a manual install in the past but only because I was having issues with deploying the OS through SmartStart and I was on a deadline.

As long as you know what components your server came with, you should be able to get all the drivers and management tools installed from the HP website relatively quickly.

Downloads for SBS 2011 can be found here: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5194969&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4108

I have found that sometimes HP don't release certain driver updates or management tools for SBS 2011. You can get them from the 2008 R2 page instead: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5194969&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4064

As well as can be expected - if it fails - you have no choice but to do a manual installation as suggested

Thanks
