IBM TSM : How to delete all volumes from a copy pool?

Hello experts,

I use IBM TSM 7.0.

We recently created a copy pool for testing purposes with a capacity of 1.5 terrabytes and we did a backup of several copy pool.

Now, we want to free up all the volumes from this copy pool , so we can only backup  the main pool to the copy pool.

Is there a safe way to do it?

Hi again,

since a storage pool containing any volumes cannot be deleted, you'll have to delete every single volume from that pool, unfortunately. There is no other way.

List Volumes

Q VOL STGP=<poolname>

Delete Volumes:

DEL VOL <volname> DISCARDD=YES

"DISCARDD=YES" will delete all files on the specified volume. Without this parameter only empty volumes can be deleted.
Because the volumes you're going to delete are copy storage pool volumes, only files on the copy pool volume are deleted. The primary storage pool files are not affected.
