Hello

I've got a Windows 2012 R2 server (serverA) that I'm successfully using to activate 2012 R2 servers using AD Activation.
I now need to activate 2008 R2 servers.

I was looking to use the same ServerA to also activate 2008 R2 servers through KMS as well as activating 2012 R2 through AD Activation

When I use the Volume Activation Tools to install the 2008 R2 Host key, I get the following :- please see attached screenshot

are you using the correct KMS product key?
Windows Server 2008 R2 Web                  6TPJF-RBVHG-WBW2R-86QPH-6RTM4
Windows Server 2008 R2 HPC edition     TT8MH-CG224-D3D7Q-498W2-9QCTX
Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard          YC6KT-GKW9T-YTKYR-T4X34-R7VHC
Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise        489J6-VHDMP-X63PK-3K798-CPX3Y
Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter       74YFP-3QFB3-KQT8W-PMXWJ-7M648

AFAIK you need to use a lower version server with updates to KMS to activate that version and higher versions. Not sure you can go the other way have higher version activate lower version
