Renewing SSL Certificate

I am trying to renew my SSL Certificate for Exchange 2010.

I do the typical "Renew Exchange Certificate" type in the file name and save the file.  That completes fine with no errors.
I then attempt to open that file in notepad, to copy the content.  When I open the file, it is mostly garbage, not like the typical CSR file.

I have tried to re-create this file a couple times now, with no luck.

I suspect your CSR is in binary, rather than Base64.
This blog can help with instructions on converting the request to the format you are expecting.
